Job Overview
Betstrike is seeking an experienced and analytical Sportsbook Manager to lead our sportsbook trading and operations team. This key role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of the sportsbook product, including odds compilation, risk management, event coverage, and trading strategies to ensure profitability and an engaging player experience. You will drive the sportsbook's performance by balancing competitive odds with margin optimization while staying ahead of market trends and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in sports betting markets, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing profitable sportsbook operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the sportsbook trading team, including recruitment, training, and performance management of traders and analysts.
- Oversee odds compilation across pre-match and in-play markets for a wide range of sports (football, basketball, tennis, esports, etc.), ensuring competitiveness, accuracy, and timely updates.
- Develop and implement trading strategies, including liability management, risk exposure monitoring, and hedging to protect margins and maximize profitability.
- Monitor live events, adjust odds in real-time, and manage in-play betting volumes to respond to market movements and player behavior.
- Analyze sportsbook performance metrics (handle, hold percentage, GGR, player retention) and produce regular reports with actionable insights for senior management.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and VIP teams to launch new markets, promotions (e.g., boosted odds, acca insurance), and features that drive acquisition and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements across jurisdictions, including bet limits, responsible gaming tools, and anti-match-fixing protocols.
- Identify and integrate new sports, leagues, or betting types to expand the offering and capture emerging opportunities.
- Manage relationships with third-party odds providers, data feeds, and risk management tools while evaluating in-house capabilities.
- Handle escalated player disputes related to bets, settlements, and payouts in line with company policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in sportsbook trading or management, preferably within an established online betting operator or supplier.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable sportsbook portfolio with strong understanding of risk management and P&L responsibility.
- Deep knowledge of global sports markets, betting types (moneyline, spreads, totals, props, futures), and odds formats (decimal, fractional, American).
- Experience leading and motivating a trading team in a high-pressure, 24/7 environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or sportsbook management platforms (e.g., OpenBet, Kambi, SBTech).
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings, to cover major sporting events.
- Excellent decision-making under pressure and a keen eye for spotting market inefficiencies.
- Knowledge of responsible gaming practices and regulatory frameworks in key markets (e.g., UKGC, MGA, state-level US regulations).
- Passion for sports and betting, with the ability to anticipate player trends and preferences.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
